Soroptimist International of River Valley Gives out the following awards each year.

Violet Richardson Award

Mel Quimby Scholarship

Moving on Scholarship

Women’s Opportunity Award

 

Violet Richardson Award

Awarded to a young woman between the ages of 14 and 17 who make the world a better place through volunteer efforts, especially those that benefit women and girls.

 

Mel Quimby Scholarship

Awarded to a high school senior who has demonstrated through volunteerism that they can make a difference in their community.

 

Moving On Scholarship

Awarded through Rogue Community College to a woman making the transition back into education.

 

Women’s Opportunity Award

The Women’s Opportunity Award is a cash grant awarded to a woman who provides the primary source of financial support for their family (head of household status), who is seeking to improve her economic status by gaining additional skills, training or education through an accredited learning center.  To apply for this award, contact Linda Garrick at lgarrick@charter.net

 

2007 Women’s Opportunity Award - Deb Gettys

 

 

Deb is a mother of two studying to be an electrician.  Her goal is to be able to take her children on a nice vacation.  The award was $1,000 and was to be used at her discretion.
